Hi - new to the forum. I am looking to purchase a 66 230 that the seller states has a 280 engine. Seller also states that the car came with factory air. I do not live in the state where the car is located so I am looking for a place to have the car inspected. When I find a reliable shop, what should I tell the shop to look for when doing the inspection?
The car is located in Largo, FL. The seller purchase the car from an estate, so they do not know much about the car.
I appreciate any advice.
Regards,
Kevin

Get the car on a lift and have inspected for serious rust on the chassis, floors and body. Rust can be the biggest challenge to repair correctly. It was not uncommon to find a 230 or 250SL with a replacement 280 engine installed back in those days. The 2.8 liter engine was the latest engine to be used in the Pagoda.

I'm assuming you mean a 230 SL and not a W111 230?
