Title: Bracket for brake lines
Post by: Figoulu on December 20, 2021, 18:20:53
Hi to all

I have a strange system to fix the rear brake line and couldn’t find the OEM fixture system. I guess it’s about metallic clamps but still wondering

Anyone to help?
Thanks

Not sure of the correct name for these clamps. They are sort of a "wind up" clamp with two parts, a band and a clamp that rolls the band tight.  Perhaps someone who knows the correct names for these parts can weigh in. I'm sure most of the suppliers have these and I believe there is a section in the Technical Manual that explains the clamps and how to install.  Hope this helps, Lee

Here is some info and they are available from all the regular MB suppliers.

They are generic parts, not specific to Mercedes but available also at Mercedes:
N 900262 009100 binder
N 900263 009000 strap, 2x285mm needed, ordered by meter

9mm width if I remember correctly (probably can be decoded from the DIN number). I think you can buy it in a lot of automotive stores.

I am enclosing a little sketch from 190SL knowledge bank. Not exactly the same perhaps, but showing the idea.

I would buy a couple of more if you are not fluent in installing them. Based on my experience... I was sure i would start binding in the wrong direction and I did.

It's important to note the correct routing of the metal brake pipe. It should run along the BACK of the axle, not the top, so as not to get crushed between the axle and the bump stop in case of maximum suspension deflection.

For those of us who are old enough to remember the old sardine cans,  we call them "sardine can style" clamps.

I knew someone would know the correct technical name for those clamps.

YES! Rear side of the axle.  In your photo you can see a mark on the axle where the old brake line was clamped.

Joyeux Noël!

The inboard one holds the parking brake cable and If I am not mistaken should be painted black.  The outboard one holds the brake line and should be silver zinc.

I just realized Leester's photo shows the inner clamp painted as it should be.
