Unless I'm misunderstanding the wording, our tech manual says that Option code 411 was not available until 1970 and that this sun roof option was probably a dealer install after delivery. Does that mean that code 411 would not appear on a data card because it was not a factory option? There's a 69 280SL, (January 69 build) for sale, with a sun roof, and the data card shows option 411. Someone has asked me to check out the car. Dealer is asking a very high price, ($180K+), because of this rare factory 411 option. I have no clue if this is legit or just a ploy to sell a very average W113 at a very high price. Any thoughts.

Hi,
see Technical Manual/option codes: https://www.sl113.org/wiki/DataCard/OptionCodes
"... option code 411 is not valid for the W113 model series, and that only a few cars were converted ... after delivery."
There were 2 suppliers Golde and Webasto, price was 1.700DM.

Thanks Wre. I read that in our tech manual. Does anyone out there have code 411 on their data card?

Tom Sargent in Virginia (hosted 2017 PUB on his property) has a Tunis Beige 280SL with a sunroof hardtop. Only one I have ever seen.

Harry,
Yes that is the same car. I just sold my 69 280SL to a great guy, (new member here), who had looked at that black sun roof car. He ended up buying my car, which I had bought from the original owner's estate back in 2004. He got a magnificent, near perfect, original 280SL, and luckily avoided that bogus sunroof black car.
