Title: Rear parcel shelf question
Post by: Dehcho on February 08, 2023, 18:35:38
Hey Guys,

I am installing new carpet in my 67.  Please see the photo. Are these wood strips something that someone added in? The look like door casing. I wont put them back in if they are not correct. The speakers will also be removed and holes filled in.

Thanks

Brett

They are incorrect. Don't put them back in. Yes, they look like some basic house trim.

I have something similar that I think is dealer installed because it has leather wrap same as seats.

Yours look pretty nice, like something that the factory could have very well done. Also a convenient little lip for a custom cushion for your dog!

There's nothing on the data card about it, so I'm assuming the original dealership did it at the wealthy customer's request.  The leather is an exact match with the rest of the interior.  I've not seen it on another Pagoda.  It is nice to have.  Paper grocery bags fit back there just right and don't slide forward.  I imagine a briefcase or small luggage would benefit from it being there.  It should have been a normal option for all customers.

Years ago I had a 1985 Nissan 300ZX 2-seater.  It had a bar to help retain items stored in the back (as well as a nice t-top storage solution).  This is not my car, just a pic I found for explanation purposes.

An original one, for the record.

if your installing new carpet, perhaps get rid of those speakers and fill in the holes. I think it makes for a neater look.

I wholeheartedly agree!  Keep the look clean.  Your interior color is so unique.  Don’t do anything to distract from it. If you must have stereo speakers, install them in the footwells as was done in later models when stereo radios became available.

Thanks again everyone.. Speaker holes will be filled and carpeted. The onterior colour is turquoise and is apparently quite rare. The code is 112
