Title: engine ovrerhaul
Post by: steves sl on July 22, 2024, 00:49:58
I finally received my 83mm piston, for my 127 engine. Purchased 6 additional Ring sets and Crank and Rod Bearings all Mercedes Parts so I should not have any fitment issues. The plan is to lightly Hone the Cylinders, since there is No ridge, and replace the new parts. My Brother and I have done several small block Chevrolet engines. The engine is disassembled down to the short block. Is there anything in particular that we should pay attention to on a 127 Mercedes engine?

If you have the crank shaft ground, be sure to supply the machine shop with the thrust main bearing, so they can set up the thrust clearance correctly.

make sure you use thread sealer on any studs that go into the head. Some water passages may have studs that go into them.

Be sure all the oil galley plugs are in place (don't ask me how I know).

Cheers,
