Title: Need help Finding correct color code for seats
Post by: Hollson on July 22, 2024, 21:38:25
Hi

wondering if anyone can help me out , I need to change my seat covers. The ones in were replaced before I got the car and the are a terrible match.
Does anyone know how to find the correct color codes/ names ?  They look somewhere in-between brown and cognac , door cards and dash are original and replacement seat covers are dark brown , alot darker than the door cards . Car is a 1965 230 SL European spec I think

appreciate the help

Do you have a data card for your car? If so, it is described in our Technical manual.

As dirkbalter said posting your data card will help, also pictures of the parts you mentioned will give members the opportunity to assess and help.

Hello, as others have said, you'll need the data card, if you don't have one, a copy can be ordered, i think from an MB dealership

Have a look on here, this example of a data card has a three digit code top right hand corner, 131, this tells you whether the upholstery was originally leather or MB tex, and the 2 digit colour code

https://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=37170.msg271792#msg271792

All of this detail is in the technical manual, but you'll need to register as a full member to access it

Once you have the original upholstery code, there are a few preferred suppliers who you can try, if you search upholstery, or leather colour, you'll find lots of posts and preferred suppliers

If this is your car, and you plan on keeping it, and you plan on doing anything else with it in the future, you really should consider joining as a full member. Most people will agree it’s the best you will ever spend.
