Hi Everyone,
I have a pair of bluetooth speakers which work in stereo together, and they each fit comfortable in the side pockets on the doors. This system works really well for me and sounds terrific. However, I leave the phone in the center console behind the ashtray, and it would be much better if I could mount it somewhere more easy to see. That would be helpful for phone navigation also. I'm not wild about the windshield suction cup mounts, but I haven't thought of anything better. Have others already solved this one?
Maybe something that sits over the transmission tunnel?
Here are the speakers if anyone is interested:

Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

I think from a safety perspective you’d want to have the phone high. I don’t think that anything but a windshield mount is possible.

This is my solution / set up. https://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=36414.0

That looks fantastic, Darren - I think you are much more technically capable than I am!
Michael - thanks for the reply and I appreciate your point. I found a magsafe phone mount that plugs directly into the cigarette lighter and the position of the phone is quite good. It is a bit flimsy though, and vibrates a bit. I'm still looking for something better. Optimally a soft clamp on the square edge of the leather dash, but I haven't seen anything like that.

... I'm not wild about the windshield suction cup mounts. ...
Why?

I use a magnetic phoneholder that is very flexible on how to position the phone and it folds away easily when not used, it works great for me.
-
Nice solution! 👏
What brand is it and where did you buy it?
-
I bought it on Temu,

This is holding to the dash with adhesive pad? Or is also magnetic?
-
@ rwmastel- I’m just trying to avoid cluttering up the beautiful dash and sight lines with the suction cup and the arm that would have to lay across the leather dash. It may be that the windshield mount is the best solution at the end of the day, but I’m still noodling on it.
I like lagolag’s solution very much visually, but I don’t want to use anything adhesive on the original leather.

Thanks BobH - You’re not kidding!

There are a couple clamp solutions on that arkon website.

Be careful with clamps, foam can have a memory and leave a permanent dent, there was someone on here who clipped something onto their visors and it left a dent that's hard, if not impossible to remove
-
I think I will try this one: https://www.temu.com/goods.html?_bg_fs=1&goods_id=601099573046082&sku_id=17592438943205&_x_sessn_id=a9qfz0giqi&refer_page_name=bgt_order_detail&refer_page_id=10045_1723977705403_xucnwvubn6&refer_page_sn=10045
Fit one end somewhere under dash (heater cover?), fit the mounting piece to the other end. Unfold down to place the phone, fold up when not needed. I do not know how it will work or if it will work, but I will try this way.

I agree. I'm not certain why there may be an issue with a windscreen mount (although some local jurisdictions in the USA do not allow anything mounted to the windshield) but here was my cheap and easy solution. It was USD $15, and today there's a 10% coupon. This works well, and easy to use. https://a.co/d/flGfosh

Pawel,
It is fixed to the surface with a self adeshive pad.
The surface is black chrome so its not a shiny item on the dash.

Thank you.
Yes, sticking it to the dash upholstery scares me a bit...

I use a quadlock windscreen (suction) mount, but also use a quadlock mount on my motorbike, and as an arm mount when I run. Needs a case/ adapter for the back of the phone

In the trunk for emergency use only. And a paper map in the hands of a cute wife/girlfriend. Makes for much better conversation, you can hear when the oily bits break and doesn't interfere with the classic Becker scratchy sound through its original speakers..

Do not hope for too much there. If your Madame is your guide and you will end up in the wrong place, it will be your fault anyway. Years of experience are speaking here...

that is my suggestion

I had the same issue and ended up using a magnetic phone mount that attaches to the air vent. It keeps my phone right in my line of sight without being a hassle. I wasn’t a fan of suction cup mounts either. Another option could be an adhesive mount for the transmission tunnel; just make sure it doesn’t block anything important.
