I have the standard 230SL fuel evap canister. Is there some material inside that is supposed to neutralize fuel vapor? The two lines from the tank come to the canister, then the third line goes from the canister out under the car (FSVT). If vapor is not getting treated in the canister, then what's the purpose? If it is getting treated, then is a new canister in order? Probably NLA! :-\
EDIT: Yes, I know I need to replace and clamp all the rubber lines.

There is absolutely nothing inside…
I cut one open once.

Is it involved in pressure regulation? Otherwise, just pipe it right out below the car!

I believe it’s for fuel expansion not just vapor. The fuel in the tank can expand and then it goes into that overflow. Not certain, but maybe others can weigh in. I do know there’s nothing inside, there are two connections to the fuel tank, and one connection to that funnel shaped thing at the back of the car and that’s it. Those connections to the fuel tank really need to be tight and with good hoes otherwise you’ll get a gas smell in your trunk.
