Just took the car for a spin and coolant was bubbling out the overflow as it decided to overheat.
Let it cool and drive it home. The temperature gauge was going over 180 (when it did I stopped until it cooled down).
When i got home the radiator was cold.
Most likely the thermostat is not opening??
I suppose the water pump could also be the issue.
The fan is working when the car is on.
Thanks for confirming I'm in the right track.

Hi,
There can be several causes for your problem. Basically, the cooling circuit is probably interrupted. See the schematic circuit here: https://www.sl113.org/wiki/Cooling/CoolingSystem.
I would start investigation checking the hoses in the cooling circuit for heat. Check your water hoses, sometimes they can collapse when old. After that check the thermostat. Remove it and test it in hot water. ....

Thermostat was the problem. Not opening at all.
