Nice old period picture. Note the mirror mounted on the wing, not seen that before

What does "Subsidiary of Studebaker Corporation" on the banner mean?
-
Studebaker were the US importers for MB, if I recall correctly
I think I'd be right in saying that at the time all MBs were sold in Studebaker dealerships

Mike,
are you not reading Pagoda World? :o

Hi Don,
you can read the whole history of the "Mercedes Benz Sales Inc" in my article in Pagoda World Issue #14.

Another early advertisement from the Sales team. Still valid today most of it.

Photo looks like it was taken at the New York Auto Show (63’ or 64’). Max brought those cars over.
-
It is certainly the same car and the same pretty white gloved model in both pics ( although I prefer the model in the corvette forum washing a pagode ! )
That 230 SL looks stunning in the dark ( black?) color and shiny chrome.
Where was the NY Auto Show held in those days ?

The 1963 NY Auto show was at the New York Coliseum:

However, the Studebaker event (where the photos showing the black 230SL were taken) was staged two days earlier for invited guests only at the Americana Hotel.
