Title: Steering issue/concern.

I notice the car was wandering a bit so had a look at the steering.  I noticed this nut was loose/hand tight.  I have tightened it up but after not so long of driving it loosens up again.  Any ideas?  Should it be VERY tight?  How could it loosen so quickly?

Because a) it's not done up properly (caution, read the tech manual...) and b) the lock washer has not been bent over to prevent it from coming undone.

Yep. Many thanks Colin. Had a dig around on this forum and have now sorted the locking plate and bent over a tab to secure it. Will monitor.  It looks like the early type (mine) was simplified later on.
