Title: is this the corect gas cap for late 280sl?

Hi all to start happy new year

can someone tell me  if this the corect gas cap for late 280sl?
I have never seen one with the wings

Looks like someone polished one of the aluminum gas caps that were available for the sedans of the period.  I don't think that cap was ever standard equipment for the SL.

Hello,
Yes the finger tabs were used on some sedans never on the SL. It will work just fine but not quite right!
