Title: linkage help!

i promise this is my last linkage question! my car was very disassembled when i bought it and i'm stuck on something again! i got it running yesterday but i can't put her on the road until i figure this out! on the right side of the engine block there is a linkage arm that has three nipples on it. the arm swivels. one nipple is for the transmission kickdown. one is for the accelerator arm that is attached to the firewall that leads down to the pedal. the third goes up to the intake that has another bar that opens the butterfly. in which order or should i say direction/facing do these bars attach to the swivel on the block? my car has exhaust pipes that look like headers. i can't seem to get the bar to line up from the swivel to the intake without hitting or binding on the exhaust! sorry for the lengthy question... thanks in advance!

Hello Bo,

Don't worry about the questions, that's what this group is for. Keep asking questions until your car is running great.

The W113 cars do not have a linkage "kick down rod" at the engine. The electrically operated three position solenoid moves the "kickdown rod" on the side of the transmission. Later M130 sedan engines had engine/transmission linkage rod requiring use of that third ball on the linkage arm. Chances are the linkage arm has been replaced with the three ball version which will work fine. One ball will not be used.

As far as connecting it up the cylindrical part of the linkage goes on the pin first. The short arm is at 12:00 and the long are is at 9:00 as you view from the right side of the car. See pic.
