Believe it or not, my car appears to have the original heater hoses. Typical of Mercedes hoses, they last for several years. Now it's time to change! The original hoses had a bumpy (or pebble like) finish. Are there any sources of the original style hose or is smooth the only thing available today (I know this is over the top)? The attached photo from the archives provides a reference:
Also need sources for the original type clamps.

I do not know about the hose, but I think the clamps are readily available. Actually, you buy a length of strapping material and the cotter key clamp roller. You can check the usual vendors. I inquired some time ago, and Millers had them, there are two sizes, so you can double check with them.
The "Total Restore" does an excellent job of showing you how to install these.
Pete Lesler also sells/sold these. He also has the Norma style clamps available. He had a bunch at Blacklick last year.

I have always purchased my hose material from the dealer. The bumps aren't the important thing. M-B hose will have the M-B markings.

The MB hoses are:
18mm heater: N 900281 018038 usually sold in 1m length
12mm Warming device etc: N900271 012018
If you have a shaped hose with an elbow, its a specific '113' #.
9mm hose clip band: N900263 009000 for heater hoses
9mm hose clip end: N900262 009100
5mm hose clip band:N900263 005000 for brake vacuum servo etc
5mm hose clip end: N900262 005100

You could probably clean that old hose inside and out, treat it with a rubber renew gel and use it for another 20 years. I took one off a similar vintage 250sl, the rubber seems perfect (and it had been in the sun a while). Very tough. I know there could be invisible damage but I bent & twisted it and inspected it with a lens - still seems good.

J.P. The "Total Restore" video was produced several years ago as a fellow rebuilt a Pagoda. There is some useful information in it but some of it is really specific to the problems he faced on his car and it leaves a lot to be desired in many other areas.
I have more than 35 years in the film & TV business so, take that into account for this review. The production values are horrid. The early video was shot with a low end consumer camera and weilded by someone who had no idea what a steady shot was. Take dramamine before watching. The editing has severe technical flaws including damaged tape wrinkling through the scenes. I found it nearly impossible to watch for very long at a time. The quality and technique did get better as he neared the end of his project.
I also found the content a good bit less than "Total". It is a documentary of one man's challenges that occasionally makes a stab at being an instructional video. If you decide you want to see it, I'll be happy to send you mine. Then I won't feel my purchase was "Total Waste"
If you have no other source for visual reference and want to get a sense for major overhaul work, it may be worth your while. Overall, I give it two very big "Thumbs Down." But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

received my total restore video today, yes the quality is not that great, however it seems to be a great overview on working on the sl
I will watch it several times, however, I may use the video as a guide to restoring my video.
