Title: Paint inside the Wheelarches
Post by: Miloslav Maun on May 05, 2006, 10:38:04
The paintjob of my pagoda is slowly finishing. The guys in the shop already painted the underside of the car. They used some anti-corrosion black grainy stuff and sprayed everything down there.
The inside of the wheelarches are now black. Should I leave it like it is or should I ask them to apply some white paint on it (the car is going to be 050 white)?

Please comment.

Good restoration there Muf.
Are they painting the driveshaft and diffrential as well?  Looks like they painted everything with the pebbly undercoating.  Thought you should be aware of that.
The inside lip of the wheelarches should be body color, but spray the undercoating first then paint it body color.

Muf,

I concur with Walter, although I'd probably just leave it black down there. I'd also tell them to go a little easier on that black paint. Seems a little excessive.

Here are some pix of a restored SL that may help:

I was under the impression that the underside of the car are black and the wheel arches are body color. looking at the photos from motoring investments restorations the undersides are also body color!!
so what is the score??

Thanks

Yes, Malek. If you really want to go to the nth, the floors should also be body color.
