OK. I know I have seen an explanation/translation of the German titles for each category on the data cards, but I'll be darned if I can find it now. I just received a copy of my data card and would like to know what all of the titles mean so I can verify my car's info. If anyone can give me this info it would be appreciated. Thanks.

There was an excellent write up in the last? Pagoda World on Data Cards, Maybe you can get a copy of that and you can can use the Search tool at the top of the page there's a ton of post's on Data cards here. This is one of them http://sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=959,cards Also you can click on "Pagoda SL Group" at the top left of the page, that will get you to more Pagoda info, look in "Databases"

Thanks for the info. I forgot about the Pagoda World article. However, I am still trying to find a listing of softtop color codes. The option code site listed 723 as a blue top, however my top is beige and my data card shows 723 as the top number. ??????? My top has never been changed according to the original owner.

Hi. Maybe of no real help but my top is 723 as well. And it is a darkish Navy Blue...

At the following site: http://www.mercedes-pagode.ch/technisch/tech.htm
these are the codes/colors listed for convertible tops for 230 SL's:
872 schwarz
972 grün
896 marineblau
702 creme
132 weissgrau
863 braunbeige
979 beige
970 dunkelgrau
708 hellgrau
437 braun
On the same site, there's an interesting DYI pdf for constructing a manual hardtop lift that doubles as a stand (German language - perhaps we can translate it with permission from the author and publish in Pagoda World):

Just sharing this document which I have done for my Tommy car.
It includes explanation of all the options/codes that came
with my car along with an image of my data card.
I tried to upload a word document here but case impossible.
If any one would like, I could e-mail him the word document
for his usage.

Hey Cees. I have seen that list too -- its seems that 723 and 896 are one in the same (marineblau). My data card has the 723 in the wenig gewunscht platz. What is your code (you have blue on white as well don't you?)

Tec,
Congratulations on getting your data card, you'll enjoy it! Here's a few translations here:

I don't know if we've ever posted a complete translation of all German-titled boxes to English. It has been done in the latest Pagoda World in the 8 page article on data cards.

Cees,
the Swiss source in your posting shows the color designations, but not the codes. In the example below, 723 is the MB code that would be on the data card, and 896 would be the color a painter would mix.

The confusion w/top colors is there are two ID #'s . One is Data Card # and the other is MB Color #.
So , A data card soft top 720 would be a MB Color 872/Blk
In your case , the data #723 is a MB 896/Marine Blue

Bob,
Two digits in the 44-68 boxes? Are you sure of that? Normally, you see a single digit in those boxes.
Here's a pretty large jpeg of my old datacard that indicates 503 (left outside mirror), 641 (w/w tires) and 665 (mode of packing VE 0.... whatever that means) in those sections:

Most of the codes are in the database section on this site, but if you want to tell us what yours says, we'll gladly help decipher.
