Regarding pump solenoids, I am looking at a friends 280SL USA which only has the lower unit, though someone has disconnected it and I cant find any trace of the wires to it in the loom !
Can anyone tell me where these wires would normally enter the loom or where I can pick them up/run a fresh hotwire to ??

Hi Ben,
On the 70/71 USA 280SL the fuel shut off was wired to pin 2 of the 8 pin relay box mounted on the driver side fender. It is part of the emissions system and is tricky in that it is activated by a bunch of switches and relays. If the switches or relays are not operating correctly the shut off could get activated at the wrong time. Hence most are disconnected.
I've sent you a pdf file which shows the entire system.

Thanks for that Jeff, recieved and read !
I suspect there are a lot of other parts disconnected/removed from this car so leaving the solenoid inopperative shouldn't cause any problems really !
