Title: 230SL Wallpaper
Post by: Klaus on October 24, 2006, 08:31:54
Just found this link at pagodentreff.de:

Its a lifesize wallpaper. If your wife objects that you want to wallpaper the bedroom with it, at least you can wallpaper the garage....

I recently got a W113 poster from MB Classic Lifestyle Collections.

I also have the w107, w126 and 300sl gullwing and though it's tempting to display them in the house, it really looks great in the garage.
I've also been in touch with the artist himself and was wondering if we could perhaps do something specific for the group such as a calendar, recruitment postcard or materials, or even the cover for the Pagoda World magazine.  He sent me a soft copy of a real nice 8x8 booklet for the gullwing and I was hoping there'd be enough interest from w113 owners to do one for the Pagoda as well.
Is there a committee or board the reviews such prospects or projects?

Vincesy,
The issue of what the Group and it's members can do to produce products is better suited to it's own topic.  That said, the challenges to producing a product for the Group include:
- Who pays up front for the product?
- Who keeps the inventory and pays the cost for shipping (reimbursed) to members?
- Who collects the money and deposits it into the Group's bank account?
- What happens if inventory is left over?
- Keep in mind the shipping and payments are dealt with internationally.

Vincesy,
I tried to access the link but it returned an error.
As Rodd noted, there are some logistical challenges to overcome when having a product manufactured for the Group. So far our experience is with (1) the Group window decals, that are sent out to new full members, (2) the 42nd anniversary poster, (3) back issues of Pagoda World, and (4) the Group's Cafepress 'store' featuring caps, T-shirts, mugs and the like. We have so far been able to have artwork (such as for Pagoda World, the Group's logo, and the design of the poster) done by volunteers, at no cost. For a non-profit group such as ours, with hardly any financial reserves, this is very welcome.
If you can send me the email address of the artist, we (the Board) can see if there are possibilities for cooperation/getting something produced.

Cees,
You can try this shorter link
http://accessories.mbusa.com/MBUSA/Default.aspx
and then click on "Products" and then "Classic Collection" on the left column and then "Posters" again on the left column.
I agree with Rodd's concerns.  It is quite normal given the non-commercial / non-profit nature of our group.  However with the buying leverage of our group, I was thinking we can probably get enough pre-orders to make the numbers work for the supplier.
Taking this one step further, I think the group's buying power and influence can be further leveraged either as a means of raising funds for the group or as additional benefits to the members such as group discounts with our favorite suppliers.
I think group specific projects or items can also increase membership benefits or help in recruiting.  The Pagoda World magazine for example definitely sealed the deal for me with regards to being a full member.
I sent an email to the artist to check if it's ok to put him in touch with you.  I'll send you a separate email as soon as I hear back from him.
Where can I find the group's "Cafepress store?"
