Title: attachement under driverseat
Post by: pablo_o2 on August 28, 2008, 14:08:50
I noticed on the last but one fotosession of B.Possel's restorationproject, the one about the carpets, that there's a small attachement clips screwed on the drivers side crossbeam, thus later-on situated under the driverseat. What is the purpose of this clips as I have the clips but not installed it yet?http://picasaweb.google.com/mercedes280sl/July262008/photo#5227494180533069426

I believe that is a "stop" to keep the drivers seat from going too far forward and off the track.

I think it's only on the driver's side to keep the seat from running up on the parking brake lever. Perhaps this hypothesis could be tested by looking at a RHD (my understanding is that the brake lever is on the passenger (left side) of these cars), if the stop is on the same side as the brake it may support the hypothesis.

The seat tracks have a stop built into them.
That tab is probably for the mounted fire extinguisher.
Or for a extra carpet mat to put on top of the original rubber mat, i.e. cocomat.
