Title: Hood support bar install with hood still on?
Post by: BaronYoungman on September 01, 2008, 16:00:35
Can you put on the hood torsion bar with the hood on the car?  I was thinking someone could twist it, while the bar was slightly through the hood then slide it over screw the passenger side down while the other person keeps the tension on the s hook side then lower it into cradle?  POSSIBLE?  It took me hours to line up the hood and I might just do without a hood support if I have to take the hood off again.  If you remember back in March when I bought the car, the hood flew off of it while on the flatbed.  So the hood isn't perfect, I did learn ALOT about metal bending and pounding, however, ;)  the hood is really tempermental and I am so happy with the fit I got I am afraid I couldn't get it again.

Hello Baron,
Yes it is possible.  Just need the muscle to do it properly without having the rod kickback at you and chip the heck out of the paint.
Dont ask how I know, just heed the advice and put plenty of heavy padding around there on the paint surfaces.
