Title: Lube for throttle linkage

Does anybody know what is the best lubricant is for the M130 throttle linkage? I am totally rebuilding mine and am beginning to reinstall. What's best... wheel bearing grease, motor oil, light oil? I will be using it on the ball pins and sockets as well all of the sliding surfaces.

I just put a little dab of copper Never-seize in the sockets.  It seems to stay put and works just fine so far.

Likewise. I use copper grease; the same stuff you'd use on brakes, etc.

Hello,

Some believe that heavy greases attract dirt and grime turning them into a grinding paste which can contribute to wear. They suggest using a light oil even auto tramnsmission fluid for lubrication is enough. Machine tools are often lubed in this manner and avoid heavy greases.

In any case, no matter what your thoughts, the worse thing to do is use no lube at all!

Since there are no seals on the sockets, dirt probably would end up in the sockets. I have only attached one linkage at this point with bearing grease, so off it comes and I will use a light oil. Besides, it will be much easier to lube the sockets when using light oil. Using grease would require removing the socket.

I guess the same goes for the rotating surfaces like the bell cranks and bearing blocks. I am glad I asked the question because I hadn't thought about the dirt contamination.

I keep my oil can filled with 30W non detergent oil for lubricating the moving linkages and supports.

I use automstic transmission fluid, it stays on for a very long time.
