Title: 4 speed shift lever

My 1965 230Sl shift lever is strait.

My 1966 230sl shift lever has a 15 to 20 degree bend.

Question. On my 1966 should the bend be up or down?

I am replacing the shift lever bushings, last week it dropped and was touching the drive shaft.

The bend should be up. It should point towards the dash.
