Title: Brake Pressure Regulator
Post by: akessel on October 13, 2008, 11:44:05
I am trying to find (according to my mechanic) a brake presure regulator that goes in the rear between the breake lines.  BEats me what its really called, but that's what I am told.

Anyone have any thoughts? Apparently mine is not working (or not working properly)

Thanks, Andy

Hi Andy,

The part you are seeking is # A0004313612.  It is a brake pressure regulator which reduces rear hydraulic brake pressure as compared to the front so that the rear brakes do not lockup prior to the front brakes under severe braking.  It is a satety feature.

I just removed one from a parts car so I have one if you still need it.
They're designed so that the brake pressure is reduced to the rear wheels as the pressure increases in the system. It doesn't stop pressure to the rear wheels at a certain pressure but rather it gradually reduces it so that more goes to the front wheels after a certain point.
On moderate braking all the wheels receieve about the same amount. On heavy braking it's probably more like 60/40 or the rears would lock up and put you into the pumpkin patch.

Hello Dan,

I've ended up in that "pumpkin patch" a few times myself!
