Hello All,
I have yet to completely update the participant database, but here's what I have so far--
41 Participants have sent in their work. Represented are USA, Australia, England, Netherlands, Norway.
6 Participants have been in regular contact and are expected to send in their photos and writeup shortly.
12 people indicated and confirmed participation, but have not been in regular contact and I'm still waiting for confirmation.
Over 1,400 [astounding] photos have been submitted. Do I have in my stewarship, the largest collection of digital Pagoda photos in the world?
My best guess at this point is this:
Book to be a minimum of 45 participants; minimum of 90 pages.
Book to be a maximum of 59 participants; maximum of 118 pages.
A small handful of buyers but not participants; not expected to significantly impact anything.
Based on the above information I'll be working up the final quotes and pricing shortly; that will go out directly to participants/buyers by email.
Everyone has been extremely cooperative and has really put their best foot forward in photography, writing and creativity to date.

For those who have not yet submitted.... you are holding up the production line ;) . We're all so eager to see the book after seeing the 10 photograph teaser... At this rate it will be a Valentine's day present rather than a Christmas present... oh well, perhaps Christmas 2009...

Looks like forward momentum! Great news!

I guess this is what I get for being so absent. Is this a book of Pagoda photographs? Sounds like a nice project. One day I would be happy to contribute as well, maybe with some articles about acquired Pagoda knowledge.
-
Hi, How can I contribute, I was an active member of Pagoda 113, and a new one to rhis site. Please advise !

Michael,
Great job with organizing this great undertaking. For those of you out there who may be holding Michael up, please get your "stuff together" quickly. Let's help Michael out as quickly as we can.
Thanks again,
John Mancini

When is the book expected to be finished? I would definitely be up to get a copy or two.
Thanks!

I had brilliant though. How about some photos of factory accessories like tool kits, ski racks and luggage rack with the fitted luggage.
Even rare model cars and rare 230SL, 250SL & 280SL sales brochures?
May Be?

I had brilliant though.
What do you mean... a thought? Well, let us be the judge of that ;)
I actually prefer the book not to become a replacement of one of the standard works on the W113 series of cars. You can find these pictures in many of the books we already own -- see http://www.sl113.org/wiki/pmwiki.php?n=Documents.Start. I much prefer this book to be a personal collection of photographs from members of this group.
So I'm against that idea.

Just so everyone knows--there will be some photos of things Bob suggests, but they will not dominate anything. They are in a separate folder called "Artifacts and Bits" and some will be specific to the contributors.
Don't worry Peter, the book is more closely related to the vision you suggest.
As always the buyers/contributors are on a list and will be kept informed on progress.

Don't know how I missed this valiant project but count me in!
Please email some info and what you need.
-
Michael,
Could you please provide us with an update on the status of this project?
The last group note I received from you was dated Dec.3.
I think it would be helpful to all of us to know if you have a target date for completion of this project and if there are any checkpoints during the road to completion.
Thanks,
-
An update was emailed out to participants and buyers to the "email addresses of record" earlier today.

Hello Michael,
We have look-outs posted at all the border crossings to make sure an Italian American guy in a red Pagoda is not trying to cross the border with bags of our money! So don't get any ideas! :)
Michael, my sincere appreciation to you for taking on such a consuming and overwhelming undertaking. No one else would dare to tackle this project singlehandedly. You have taken on all this work and trouble for absolutely no profit! Only a sincere love for these cars and genuine friendship and loyalty to our group would compell you to accept all this self-abuse!
Thank you very much. Take all the time you need as far as I am concerned. Someday these scarce volumes will be among the most cherished Pagoda options!
-
So true. Thank you Michael, and thanks Joe for expressing these sentiments.
-
A resounding "here, here" to Michael's pagodal efforts. Not many of us have that sort of drive and determination.
Michael, your work is greatly appreciated by us all now and I am sure will be enjoyed for yours to come by generations of W113 owners once the book gets published.....is this your effort to achieve immortality?
Cheers,
Dirk

Trice,
I do not know where you have been--certainly not paying attention here!
The book is limited to 57 participants because of the page count; pages don't go up one-by-one but rather in increments of 12 pages. We were originally at 108 pages but due to wanting to include as many as we can, I went up to 120. I have 55 contributions and am waiting for 2 more. Those 2 I have been waiting on for some time! If they choose to back out you we can slide you in.
Those 57 participants equals 114 pages of photos and stories, and the balance of 6 pages is forwards, introductions, title page, etc.
If for some reason we don't get 57 in total, but 55, I will use my judgement on creating some additional photo pages mixed with some of the best photos.
EVERYONE: Thanks for all the kind words and votes of confidence.
