Had the day off today so I wanted to post these photos & a short story.
This 1969 280 came to me not running. A customer gave it to me in lieu of paying a portion of a repair bill on another SL (1991 high mile driver). I considered fixing it but it was too far gone for me. I sold it on eBay to recoup my money and it went overseas to be "restored" in some shape or form. This goes to show you that some of the cars you guys are restoring could have been worse!
No trunk or passenger compartment floors left. Lower quarter panels rusted plus rust over each rear wheel. Rear bumpers rusted right off. Lower front fenders inner/outer construction rusted away. Dented grill, rusty roof where paint flaked off. Engine did not run.
I hope someone did resurrect the 'ol girl.
