280Sl with a sun roof
« on: January 15, 2009, 00:48:01 »

Mark Pasarelli has a 280 SL that has a sun roof. I think that is a rather unusual feaure for a removable hard top. I will be at his open house Sunday so if possible I will take some pics of it.

Looks interesting. I think the claim about "1 of 3 known to exist" is a bit of a stretch, but I'm sure it's an extremely nice car. (His cars always are.) So was the sunroof added recently?

Mark once had a med blue 280sl that he added a sunroof from a 300D wagon.  It was larger than a typical 113 sunroof with the T handle for operating it.

I have a 111 coupe parts car with power sunroof. I've long thought about buying another 113 hardtop to experiment with installing that sunroof.  The 111 sunroof is pretty huge though (larger than a 300D I think), so it may not even fit.  However, it does seem silly sometimes to think about a sunroof on a convertible...

I would be curious to know if the price of 115K is based just on the strength of the sunroof, racks, and luggage on a good to excellent 280sl car or if the car itself is also outstanding or unique in some specific way(s).

I don't recall ever seeing Vuitton brand luggage as an actual option so I assume that was created-ordered by them just for this car.
