Engine temperature profile

I have a 230SL with a 280SL engine in it.  Not sure when it went in but it does run real well.  I've read in the archives all of the temperature posts and my engine seems to be similar.  So far I have not seen it go up over the second white square but it hasn't been over 75 in Houston when I was driving it.   I happen to have a infra-red temperature reader so I took some readings after a 30 minute run today. I intentially let it idle for about 5 minutes before the readings to see if I could get the temperauture up.  (sorry for you folks up north, but it was over 70 when I did this in Houston today) The guage was reading just below the second white square and the engine temperature pick-up was running 215 on the IR.  The block near the temp pick-up read 212, the block near spark plug #3 was 206 and the block near #1 was 190.   The radiator was reading 180, the thermostat housing was 187.  For kicks I shot the exaust manifold near the back cylinder and it was reading 457 ;D.    So the question is does all of this sound normal?   I do plan on pulling the radiator in March to have it gone through, will also change all of the hoses, belts and anything else I can with the hood off at that time. (My son will be visiting from Columbus so I'll put him to work!)
