Tail Lights - 250 Italian Model
« on: February 13, 2009, 21:08:17 »
Hello All,

I wanted to ask how hard would it be to find tail lights specific to the italian model SL? (They have amber side markers, only smaller than the later 280 sl Type)
Are there OEM replacements available for these, or aftermarkets... or is it just a matter of plain luck finding them online?

This is the Italian type tail light (according to the Tech Manual these were mounted on cars going to Australia, Italy and the UK) that I need to find.

This is the later model, mounted from 69 onwards.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I also have an "Italian" pagoda, mine is a '68 280SL. I bought my tail lights from sls in Germany. It's not that easy to fit though. I've paid Euro 100.00 each in December '08.

I have  a set new for sale. They include the bulb holders and new bezel & bulb housing gaskets. I got these a long time ago from  a Pilot for one of the airlines. He said he tried to order a replacement but the car was sold when he got these new units. I already have new correct Red taillights for my 280SL.  They would not line up with the holes in the rear so I suspect perhaps the 230SL had different alignment for these light units.

If anyone is intrested PM me.
