Trunk and door locks
« on: June 04, 2013, 21:30:29 »
I am wanting to rechrome the trunk lock and door handle and locks. I know the trunk lock assembly can be removed from the chrome trim. But can the trunk lock cylinder be removed from its chromed housing? I am wanting to chrome the housing and need to seperate the two. I am assuming the door handle is the same deal.

Seems like if you were going to rekey the locks, you would have to remove the cylinder anyway.

Thanks!

Hi Wallace,

Yes to both, I had a few of them done a while back, the important thing to remember is have your platter plug the holes so that the inner dia, of your parts wont get extra chroming otherwise your male parts will not fit in, in addition mark them so they will go back to it's original pieces.

Good luck
Shaun

Thanks for the reply Shaun. I thought it could be done but always nice to hear from someone who has done it. Is there someone special who does this? I had a local locksmith try it but they couldn't do it. Frustrating.
