Fuel Gauge

Mine has died. Needle not moving and so I have a new one (from Dr Dan..) to fit

However, tonight, for the first time ever, the low fuel warning light actually illuminated. I didn't know it was a red colour. So I clearly need more gas.

However, why would the light work and not the gauge?

More importantly, once the light comes on, how much gas do i have??!

The float may be punctured or a fragile wire soldered to it may be broken.
Use a new cork gasket when changing it over.
(Donate the old one for research  ::))

You have about 10 litres when the light first comes on.

The reserve light is a separate circuit where a contact at the bottom of the float sensor completes the ground of the indicator light behind the gauge. so even if the float circuit is broken the light will still function.

I guess people are so used to electronics controlling these functions on modern cars that they don't realise that these are all electro-mechanical systems on a Pagoda.
