covers for subframe

I am reading the book The SL Experience but am confused by a paragraph on page76.Covers for the subframe mounts were omitted because the pump was now lubricated from engine oil. I cannot see why the two are connected{or is it me}  ???.A really Great book though.Cheers Mike.

Good catch. I cannot see how those are related in any way. The subframe mounts went out at the mid year change at chassis 2980 (I believe that is that case, since all the safety stuff came in at that point).

For the 250 SL, at chassis number 2980 there were a whole host of changes made to mainly satisfy the safety mavens. That is the most logical place for the removal of the subframe mounts.
