Need paint 181H
« on: June 16, 2009, 20:21:09 »
This is my first post, I life in the UK, I have a 280sl 1971 California car. I had a full restoration done when I bought it 20 years ago. I've only covered 4000 miles since but I am having a little paintwork done, trouble is the paint shop that did the original respray can't obtain a colour match. 20 years ago paint was chemical based, now paint seems to be water based. I searched the Standox website but it says there is no data for 181H. Can anyone help where to obtain paint. The car is for sale and I want it perfect before I let anyone look at it. Thanks Aidan

DB 181 hellbeige or light beige per the Glasurit book. I have a listing in DuPont, Martin Senour, etc. I would suspect that they would be able to provide the information you need, or the paint.

The Technical Manual, section on DataCard and Paint Codes has instruction for retrieving the exact formulation of your paint, to give to your paintshop. Always check the Technical Manual!
