I hope you're not angry, Tom, to see that picture with "pagoda world" issue. Internet is a fantastic exchange of informations.
It's because I browsed your website last year, that you gave my adress to Cees,who contacted me and so, I'm a member of the SL113 group today, even if it's a bit hard to understand everything in english.
The Motorlegend website is a site for all cars, divided into nationalities, for example"allemandes" (= "germans")
then "BMW" or "Mercedes", and then subjects, almost never technical, but only conversations and many interesting pictures from internet,magazines or private; sometimes drawings / comics, etc...
The mercedes pages are very interesting, some pictures are seldom. among 100 Mercedes subjects, some have more than 100 posts, and many pages; less than five concern the pagoda,especially one is for the Pagoda .
Its name is:"vous reprendrez bien un peu de pagode?", which means: "you will like to take some more of the pagoda, won't you?", as if it would be tea; and it's the topic mentionned by TA250SL.
The leader of the mercedes forum has a nice W111 280 SEC 3.5 litre.
SL113.org is mentionned there, as I mentionned Motorlegend here and sent pictures from Motorlegend .You see,  the english language is a problem for most of the frenchmen, as french is for many english native speakers.

Angry?  It looks like that's Albert's call. In the Dec issue he claimed the copyright to this historic photo. The sensible thing is to demand a copyright attribution of the website, not to deny use on the grounds that this is not a permissible fair use.  After all, you don't see Boeringer reading any other group's publication!  

The whole publication team should be very, very proud to have produced this high-quality journal.  I know how hard it is, because for 4 years I produced 5 different publications for a professional licensing organization of 3000 people.  It takes a great deal of skill to make technical issues interesting and to get the right "mix" of technical and personal topics.  Hats off, guys!  (By the way, are there any girls out there?  I'm feeling a little lonesome to be the only one...)

At least, I don't expect any copyright for my own pictures that I gave on the web.... Everyone can take them anyway. SL 113.org got a very good publicity through the world and these forums, and also the german website Pagodentreff(which means "pagoda meeting") made a special post to admire our club. Personally, I'm more or less sending now and then messages on all these Forums. Only once I paid something: it was for our club SL 113, and I had the pleasure to get Pagoda World after that.

If this is your picture, the law gives you a copyright without any action by you.  If you choose not to enforce it for personal reasons, that is fine.  But I believe that a copyright holder should at least be acknowledged.  A good picture can be used again and again, and then everyone forgets who is the artist    

By my post I meant to say that I think this particular use is very beneficial to our group, and that everyone involved (photographer and Pagoda World publication group) should be very proud; also they should be acknowledged publicly.  

As this group produces more and more published material, on the web and in print, we need to be thinking about at least demanding credit for what is produced by us and used by others.  Sorry for this pedantic explanation, but this is what happened in my previous publication experience--people tried to use all our material (produced by talented hard-working volunteers) without attribution, and that's not fair, in my opinion.

Hi Trice & Pierre - actually Pagoda World has been the product of a team of one: Rodd Masteller. He has put out a great deal of work on making it a very professional publication.

On his (and his family's) behalf, I would like to 'abuse' this thread to ask any volunteers who might like to be involved in the production of Pagoda World (collecting material, proofreading, editing, writing short articles etc) to step forward and send an email to Rodd, or to myself. Credit will be given!!

Pierre - I very much enjoyed browsing through the French forum and recognizing many familiar shots and cars (Peter van Es´ blue Pagoda in rallye trim for example, he and I just got off the telephone).

  ... I took this picture (in Barcelona) for the W113 Pagoda SL Group, because I thought it was a very nice moment for the group. And I posted it here (first photo -Eugen&PW.jpg- in http://index.php?topic=1043 ) in order to share it with all our members. If it's useful to give publicity to our group and our magazine... even better! Obviously I don't claim any copyright!  

Like Pierre, I don't expect any copyright for my own pictures that I gave on the web....
