Head Light Adjustment
« on: September 10, 2009, 17:40:53 »
I have reviewed the Tech Manual and have found it helpful in my understanding the system, however, I am having a problem making adjustments.  It seems as if the spring in the lower outside quadrant is too strong.  When I start to adjust the screws in the 12 o'clock and the 10 o'clock position the light/frame starts to adjust, then the spring seems to over power the screws and pull them away from their frame and also pull out the nylon clip. One clip is now cracked, so I need the clips too.  The frame is not pristine and has some rust of course. The fork like inclined plane that the screw rides on is not very stiff either.

Any Ideas?

Michael, which headlight unit are you referring to?  Is it a US or Euro style?

Michael,

I recommend that you remove your headlights completely and see what is causing your issue.  Remove them, clean them up and maybe even put a bit of light oil on the adjuster screws and springs.  Also, once you have the light unit out and on the bench, you can see how the adjusters work.  This helped me understand their operation better when I had mine out...
Good luck,
Bob
