What to do with a junkyard injection pump?

I pulled an injection pump from a 71 280 SE with the idea of selling it.  What can/should I do to the pump in order to accurately describe the condition?  Is there someting that I should see if I can turn?  I don't know much about the injection pumps and I don't want to rip anyone off so I want to be able to describe it well.   Thanks  Scott

Hello Scoot,

You will only be able to determine if the pump is not stuck. Remove the side cover and turn the pump and watch each spring and piston assembly move up and down. Remove the rack cover on the end of the pump next and move the acceslerator linkage, the rack should move in both directions about a 1/4". Also check to make sure the WRD slide valve is not stuck.

This will tell you that most of the basics are in order. Unless you actually install it on and engine and run it or set it up on  a test bench and meter everything you cannot determine that it is usable.

Unless you can absolutely say that the pump is in good condition, it's value is as a core.
