Official W113 Catalytic Converter.
« on: May 02, 2004, 15:39:40 »

Is anyone investigating the W113 closed-loop catalytic converter kit now being offered by the Classic Center (1,995 euros)?

An announcement appears on page 9 of the 1/2004 Mercedes-Benz Classic Magazine, and I'm wondering how W113 technical and concours experts react to the idea, i.e., what does it do to mechanical efficiency and performance, and how would judges react to it at a show?

Bill,

I struggle to think of a reason why one would want to install this.  It is not original and quite expensive.  Do you know of the specific benefits other than environmental?

Best,

Tom

Bill,

Hi.  I thought I recalled a discussion on this topic including part numbers, peoples opinions and the like.  To my suprise, a search only resulted in one thread with any significant reference:

Yeah, it makes the classic centre a lot of money while leaving you with a vauge feeling of being ''green''

There's a number of things I might do to my car and this isn't one of them. One of the reasons I drive old cars is to get away from all the things you find on newer cars. I don't want AC,cruise, power seats, windows,CD player or pollution control. If I wanted all those things, I'd buy a new car.
