How to interpert vintage car ads

Saw this at a car collection tour in Chicago today. Thought it would be of interest

                             HOW TO INTERPERT VINTAGE CAR ADS

IF IT SAYS…               IT MEANS

Rare model               Nobody bought them even when new
Older restoration            Can’t tell its been restored
No Rust               Body and fenders are missing
Rough               It’s so bad I can’t even lie
One owner               Have never been able to sell
Engine overhauled            Has new sparkplugs
Many new parts            Keeps breaking down
29 Coats of hand rubbed paint         That’s how many it took to cover the rust
Clean               It sat out in the rain yesterday
Always driven gently            Wont  go fast
Stored 25 years            There’s a tree growing through it
Easy restoration            The parts will come off in your hands
Good investment            Can’t depreciate any more
Complete but disassembled         Parts are scattered over 100 miles

Back in the 70's a local Washington D.C. area woman placed an ad in a local publication:  "1968 Datsun 510 2dr, 4-sp, low mileage, only driven in parking lots on Sundays."  She was selling her weekend autocross racer.

It's all a question of perspective. After I drove 150 miles to look at a Saab convertible that had "2 small holes in the roof" which turned out to be over a foot long. I still ended up buying it but as I walked away my friend said "If they were buying it those holes would be gaping wounds.".
