How many W113's left in the UK?
« on: December 26, 2009, 08:34:31 »
Under the Freedom of Information Act, I asked how many W113's were registered in the UK and either taxed or SORN'd (registered as in use but certified as "off the road" temporarily) and was given the following figures...

230 - 22
250 - 25
280 - 51

I have real doubts that these figures are right (I provided detail of chassis number configuration to allow the search).

Looking at cars advertised and featured in articles, there must be more than this, and then there are US, Europe and Australian imports.

How many can we identify from the admin of this site?

I previously owned CVG266F - 280SL, and am looking for another...!

Here's some aggregate data from our site:

We have 99 members with England or United Kingdom somewhere in their location. 21 of those are Full Members
We have 3 members with Scotland (but not UK) in their location. 1 is a full member

If you're interested in Ireland too (I know it's not UK, but they will be right-hand drive too), there we have 19 members of which 4 are active members.

Note that I do prune the membership list every so often, so members on this list have logged on at least once in the last 12-18 months.

3 years back, I had it confirmed that the Uk MB Club had 497 Pagoda owners on it's books. That clearly won't be all the cars in the UK (and Ireland), but by the same token, it's the people, not that cars that are members so they may have sold cars on....

From that I have assumed about 500 cars left.

From a previous post, these are the figures for W113's on the road in Germant in 2002;

230 SL: 1886
250 SL:  379
280 SL: 2318

So 500 in the UK sounds about right?

I know of 3 within 5 miles of you.

Tosh is a wee bit further East I think.

There's a meet at Brooklands tomorrow.

I think this data has been redacted (Under the Freedom of Information Act), same as some other ministerial expenses data that comes to mind
