Clock repair article

Now that I have my inop clock out, I went to read the repair article "Clocks of the 113 Era" by Jim Mahaffey on the Pagoda113.com knowledge base and the link didn't work.
Does anyone have a saved file that they can email to me?

If anyone is interested, I just had my clock cleaned (smile), repaired and refurbished by David Lindquist in Whittier, CA.  He did a splendid job at a very reasonable price.

Thanks for posting the article here.  My clock problem has been that it will stop running and I have to "reset" the time to get it going again.  I have the clock out, but with my inexperience, I don't see anything obviously wrong with it.  I'm trying to decide if I want to go Quartz.

if the clock stalls out, that would indicate excess wear in the brass plates of the movement. just cleaning the works would not fix it.
The plates would need to be rebushed.

Being toooooooooo scared to take this little clock apart....gear by gear.... I elected to "oil er up" and hope for the best.  The best did not come.  I could not get it running again.  So.........I used my air compressor (at low pressure) and blew the gears and bearings as best I could.  Then I hooked the wires to her, and she is still ticking after 24 continuous hours.  I'll leave her on my test bench for awhile longer to see how she does.

In the meantime, I contacted Palo Alto Speedometer, and they can rebuild mine with a quartz movement for $195 (+tax & shipping).  A new bezel, lens, and bulb are extra cost.  Another option is for me is to buy one of their quartz clocks for $265 (+tax & shipping) that would match my clock's appearance.  The latter option seems the best since I could just keep my original clock. 

I'm not necessarily a purist on something that can easily be converted back to "stock", so I'm not beyond buying a less expensive VDO quartz clock if it will fit in the hole without modification. 

Not settled yet on what I will end up doing long-term.   If mine passes another 24 hour test...........I'll run her till she quits again.

I replaced my original, non-working clock with a VDO quartz appropriate-looking one years ago and never looked back ... keeps perfect time and looks very well, but I do miss the loud 'click' from the old clock.

My original clock has been "ticking" now for about 5 days after having it apart and oiling it.  So far so good; it is losing about 3 minutes a day though.

Thanks for the note, Cees, on the VDO replacement clock.  That will be my choice if mine quits.
