Search for Ray Paul
« on: January 17, 2010, 14:04:43 »
Does anyone know where Ray Paul now works?  He was the owner of SL Classics in the New York area for years.  SL Classics did merge with Bud's Benz several years ago, but in the last year or so, Ray Paul closed his doors. In the past I have had lots of conversations with him concerning engine problems with my SL.  He has a wealth of knowledge about these cars.  It would be nice to know his whereabouts, would like to get in touch with him again.
Thanks,
Bob

Things may have changed -- but about a year ago (I think), I called Ray about a part and he disclosed that Bud's was letting him go. (economy no doubt)... Bummed me out because he had always been my go-to guy since the mid-90s (Star Quality). Ray, if your out there, my regards.

Is it possible that Ray has set up his own shop?

I ordered a lot of my new parts from Ray and he was very knowledgeable about the right part needed for my car.
He worked out of his house in Lagrangeville, NY which is not far from where I use to live.
I haven't talked to him in about a year and at that time he was lamenting about the very high prices Mercedes was charging for parts.
I think he may have retired but he is listed at a home number in NY.

Otto,
Thanks, I just wanted to get in touch with him to say hi and that if ever I need some good advice could I call on him.  He is really knowledged with these cars.  Wish he was a club member.  It is truly nice to have folks still around that knows these cars. ie. Ray Paul, Joe Alexander, Dave Gallon, etc.

Bob,
I have spoken to Ray Paul many tims over the years and I have even visited him at his home in New York on one occassion. I tried the direct dial telephone number I have and it is disconnected. I hope someone has some updated information.
