injection pump stuck
« on: May 02, 2010, 17:51:12 »

OK, i've finally located and purchased a type R11 pump for my 230SL.  The car presently has an R18, wrong pump, on it.  This R11 if from a salvage yard, and has a lot of dirt/grease, and the injector outputs are uncovered, so I'm assuming there's some dirt in them.  It was stored with the salvage engine in a covered area, so no water in it as far as I can tell.  I've taken off two of the injector output caps, no rust, but all that I can get out is the springs.  The next part will not come out, I think it is a one way valve.  Additionally the "crankshaft" will only rotate about 1/2 a revolution.

Months ago, I followed Joe's instructions for freeing up my R18 pump, 3 of the 6 pistons were stuck.  My on this R11, where do it start if I cannot get the valves out?  And for now I'm not putting a wrench the the crankshaft (input shaft) to force rotation until I hear what you guys think.

Thanks in advance, Ron
