Hemmings Sports and Exotic
« on: March 18, 2006, 20:18:12 »
Just got the May edition of Hemmings Sports and Exotic.  If you don't subscribe, you may want to head out and buy the May issue.

1) They profile a sweet 67 230SL.  A brief snipet ..."Even at rest, the 230SL exudes security and a boundless quality feel.. the 230SL enjoys perfect ergonomics for a two-seat roaster."

A nice article and a beautiful example owned by Robin Knapik. Are you a member of this site Robin?

2) a few pages later they outline the 10 milestone cars created by Mercedes... the 63 230SL appears between the 300SL and the 300SEL 6.3.

3) Finally, there is an article titled "Replicating Gold Cad Plating at Home"

Good reading!

Ouch, I never quite thought the 230SL's would roast your bottoms if sitting in them too long.

And the worst part is that my typing skills are better than my mechanical skills!

Ouch, well, that's what this group is for.  To pass on knowledge and help each other in trouble.  So any problems are not yours alone, some of us have already gone through them.
I'm not even a certified mechanic, but have been asked by many to help out.  Just fixed a sunroof, antenna, viscous fan and radio problem car(1991 350SDL) yesterday.

I'm a charter subscriber to Sports Cars and Exotics and have been hoping they would do an article on our cars.  I read it tonight, and thought it was very well done.  The author seems to get what we have known all along; it may not be the fastest sports car of that era, but the combination of style, quality, and driveability make it hard to beat.  He should have done a little more research on parts availability however, as he says that some trim pieces are hard to get.
