Late Sun Visor Clips...
« on: June 30, 2010, 20:06:21 »
Clumsy oaf that I am, in dropping my soft top today I managed to "remove" a sun visor clip from the top of the windscreen

The screw and it's square washer are still beautifully recessed in their little hole and surrounded by nice cognac leather. The clip istelf (inner, left side) is neatly attached to the visor.

The plastic at the base of the visor seems to have been ripped out such that the screw/washer have pulled through it. I did say I was a clumsy oaf! Is this a bit that's repairable? replaceable (1969/70 280)? I am guessing that mjine don't qualify as "early" clips....

Thanks

Tosh, did you have a question or did you want a confirmation for your guess?

No, they don't qualify. However, 280SL visor clips are available from MB.
But I would like to see a photo of your square washer and the rest of the damage!  ;)

Thanks

The clip is secured to the windscreen frame with a cross-head screw with a square washer stopping the screw pulling through the plastic of the clip

Well, it SHOULD stop the screw..... Thus the plastic is torn up. I have asked SLS if they have replacements....

Will post some pictures in due course
