Cold Start Valve

It seems my CSV is not working properly. It operates, but do not press hard enough to open the valve (the ball).
All other systems are working fine. I gave him the "cold start tour" from the tech manual.

So the mechanic whats to replace this item. I suspect that WD40 could do the trick! but he says no. So he will get me a price on a new valve.

Does this seem right?
Where do I find a good price on this item? its 128 EUR at SLS.

I think that most CSV problems can be solved by the owner spending a little time getting to know the valve. I wouldn't replace it until it's been stripped down. Perhaps take it yourself and spend an evening cleaning it up, the reinstall and try again.

It may be that the CSV isn't the cause of whatever problem it is that you're trying to solve.

Yes what a good idea. My valve does in fact look new, so I wonder if it should be broken!

On cold the car does not start right a way, it takes quite a while to fire up, but it always does. The Mechanic is a specialist in old mercedes, so I quess he knows what he is doing, but the alway want to replace instead of cleaning it up...

I've had the screen inside be clogged with crud after all these years.

There is a very specific set of instructions about how to clean up the cold start valve in the technical manual. It shows all the internals, how to clean it, what to check, etc.

I would check the voltage at the plug to make sure you are giving the solenoid 12V.
If it is less then the relay contacts could be dirty.

The nozzle often gets plugged with fine rust. Almost impossible to get them to work if that happens. Read what info you can find but keep in mind that some can't be fixed.

128 Euro sounds pretty good. I assume that's rebuilt with an exchange price?
