i have a 1967 230 sl and the steering wheel is locked and i cant turn the key. does any one know what to do?

All I can suggest if you haven't already done so is try turning the wheel left and then right while you are turning the key. You may need to use a little muscle (not too much) when turning the wheel while turning the key. Don't force the key or you could snap it off in the ignition. Good luck.

Hello,
Jiggle the steering wheel while you try to turn the key. Use powdered graphite in your ignition lock to keep it working smoothly. Use it in all your locks, it is inexpensive and you will be amazed at how well your locks will work!

I did not realize that our SL's equipped with anti-theft locking steering wheel locks. When did Mercedes-Benz introduct this feature into their vehicles? Did they offer this in the States prior to the European market?
