door panels
« on: July 29, 2003, 22:33:00 »
My door panels are bulged out, and I'd like to replace the backs. The blanks are available for $65 each, I think, but I'm curious whether anyone has bought hardboard/masonite and fashioned their own.

I shopped around and bought the hardboard for more like $30 each, but I don't remember which vendor, maybe k&k....there is nothing magical about them, if your current ones are good enough for patterns, go to your favorite home center and buy a sheet of masonite and do it yourself.

the rest of the project wasn't so enjoyable....there's a lot to take apart to get the door panels off, and a lot of room for error when tranferring the mbtex or leather from one panel to the next.

good luck!
