Anyone found a source for a valve adjusting tool (17mm ) for M130 engine in the UK?

Hi Larry,

I use a Stahlwille crows foot, you can get them from here http://www.tooled-up.com/Product.asp?PID=127201

Still not perfect though and you do have to be careful with it especially for those that are very tight, the best way is to remove the rocker arm and use a socket. I've made a tool for this from a length of box section as shown in the BBB and it works very well, makes the whole job a breeze. I'll post a picture if you need it.

Hi David,
I used a crow's foot last time, as you say it is not ideal. There was one valve that
I could not get at at all. (That is a very expensive crow's foot you link to!)
I would like a picture of your home made tool as this may be the way to go.
Thanks
Larry

I bought the correct tool from samstag sales

http://www.samstagsales.com/mercedes.htm#valve

probably over priced but its nice to have the correct tool.

I have seen it done with regular box wrenches as well.

Hi Larry,

The box section tool I was first thinking of was for the valve collets, the rocker arm tool is as per the attached photos. It’s just a piece of 25x4mm mild steel with the arm about 85cm and the S head about 15cm in total. The head is placed under the cam shaft and the heal on the valve spring to compress it a little and allow removal of the rocker arm, just remember to have the relative piston at BDC to avoid any conflict. Even with the correct MB tool some adjusters can only be moved by removing the arm and using a socket. Hope that helps.
