I have a 1969 280 SL that had the rear end swapped with a 280SE 3:69. There is oil all over the back of the license plate area and trunk lid and it appears to be coming from the breather tube. Do the breather tubes become blocked , need to be cleaned/replaced? Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Hello,

Yes the vent on the top can become blocked.  It can be unscrewed and cleander or replaced. Make sure the unit is not overfilled.

The suspension must be "loaded" with both axels horizontal. remove ther plug mid way up the case, and fill till fluid is level with the drain plug opening.
