Wheels - pressed or pinned?
« on: November 03, 2010, 04:23:55 »
I have a 250SL I am restoring and it had a real mix of parts. W113 10001734. I have 2 types of rims on the car, one type has the hub cap retainers pressed into the rims and the other type has pins to hold the hubcaps.  Can anyone tell me which are the appropriate type for a 250, and what year the change was made from pinned to pressed?

Hello Al,

Yup, I can. ;)

As you own a 250 SL, yours should be the ones with the pressed cap retainers.
The parts number should read 108 400 00 02 and the rim dimension must be 6Jx14H.
The others you might have are most likely the earlier 113 400 01 06 with the three pins from the 230 SL until 1965.

Better than a lot of silly words from me is to go to our excellent WIKI:
