Remember that all Mercedes qualify for Roadside Assistance for the life of the vehicle, so things like 3-4 gallons of gas, help changing a spare, and possibly a tow to a dealership are free. My point: if you're not covered by an auto club, it could be a good idea to program 1-800-367-6372 into your cell phone.

My wife has had them help her with a flat on her 98 c230.

I have had them come out several times for my 78 300d.  Twice over the years for a dead battery.
Once they actually brought a new MB battery and installed it no charge for labor just the battery.
the service in Austin is staffed by mechanics from the dealership.


Typically the service is only available after hours and weekends.
The operator will also screen the call to make sure they tech can help you on the road. 
If the problem is something larger they will suggest the car get towed to a repair shop.

nice to have this service just in case

Regret that I bring the news that for most of us free Mercedes Roadside Service is ending.

Effective 01 January 2011, to qualify for the free assistance the car must be regularly serviced at a Mercedes dealer or you must be the original purchaser of the vehicle.

Very few of our cars will qualify under the new rules.

That, I believe, has always been the case in the UK i.e. Must be serviced at least every 2 years and then only lasts 36 years as that
was cosidered the life of a Mercedes.
But I may be corrected onthat :-\

What I had been told was that if you had purchased any Mercedes-Benz new (while MB offered roadside)... You get the roadside assistance for ANY Mercedes-Benz in your household. But you had to buy a new one - one way or the other.

My wife has gotten two new Benz Sedans since 2003 and I have always considered any of our MB's in the household to be covered since then (not that I would the dealership wrench on any of them).

I believe that to still be the case.
